More Details
CAO Osa Sol
OSA Sol is a cigar that was smiled upon by the gods of nature. Its wrapper, from the 2008 Olancho, San Agustín crop, was grown with the perfect amount of sun and rain, giving it a rich, earthy flavor that’s perfectly complemented by a Nicaraguan and Honduran blend and hearty Connecticut Broadleaf binder. Cigar Journal named OSA Sol one of its “Top 25 Premium Cigars of 2011” and awarded the brand with Cigar Journal Trophies in 2012 and 2013.
CAO Pilon
A Pilon is a carefully layered stack of tobacco leaves that helps ferment the tobacco to maximize the flavor and color of the leaves. Dating back to 19th century Cuba, this natural method of fermentation delivers a taste and appearance that just can’t be reached otherwise. CAO Pilon uses this time-honored method to give you a cigar with deep, rich colors and unprecedented depth of flavor.
El Gueguense
The debut cigar and initial line blended under Nicholas Melillo for Foundation Cigars. A true Nicaraguan puro, each bale of tobacco that goes into this cigar is hand-selected by Melillo with the filler leaves coming from a special vintage crop from years 2011 and 2012. Melillo is personally overseeing production at the Tobacco Valle de Jalapa (TABSA) facility with production being limited to 225 units per day.
Wise Man Maduro
The Wise Man Maduro is an offshoot of the original El Güegüense, which loosely translates to “The Wise Man” and is named for a folkloric dance in Nicaragua. This Maduro has all the qualities of a stand-out cigar: assertive without being aggressive, full-bodied without being too strong and interesting from first puff to last. It’s a flavorful blend that oscillates between the sweet and the savory. Cocoa and vanilla notes play off the tobacco’s meaty, beef-stock qualities, all integrated by an ever-present earthiness. The Wise Man Maduro has received numerous accolades including a 95 rating from Cigar Aficionado, a 93 rating from Cigar Dojo, winning Halfwheel’s Consensus, as well as being included in various Top 25 lists.
CAO Flathead
Inspired by hot rods and pin-up girls, CAO Flathead is a box pressed badass that hits on all cylinders – as evidenced by the 95 rating it earned from Cigar Aficionado. Hand-shaped to deliver a striking flat top, the cigar features a brawny Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a blend that’s heavy on Nicaraguan leaf. Its frontmarks are named for engine parts, but the tribute to muscle cars doesn’t end there – the packaging gives a nod to the muscle car engine with a lid that’s easily removed and used as wall art.
