El Criollito (The UnCuban)
At the IPCPR (cigar retailer trade show) in 2018 Abe Flores from PDR Cigars noticed I was smoking a Monte Cristo #2 from Cuba and asked if I would compare it to the new cigar he just brought into the US that he’d been selling in Europe. As I tried the cigar I told him I’d like the real cigar he wanted my insight on because the cigar he had given me tasted JUST LIKE the Monte #2 from Cuba I was smoking. He insisted the cigar I was smoking was in fact his El Criollito. I was BLOWN AWAY at the flavor which tasted just like some of the premium Cubans I’d smoked before. This cigar is the best UNCUBAN cigar that actually tastes’s Cuban in flavor.
1878 Capa Oscura
The PDR 1878 Capa Oscura is a medium-bodied cigar that has become an instant classic. Each cigar is carefully crafted with an Ecuadorian Sun Grown Oscuro wrapper, Dominican Habano binder and an expertly balanced mix of Dominican Corojo and Corojo ’98 fillers. Expect this dark, impressive, oscuro wrapped cigar to provide an earthy flavor punctuated by a hint of sweetness. A good, solid, everyday cigar that’s hard to argue with, all at such a superb value.
1878 Capa Oscura
The PDR 1878 Capa Sun Grown features an Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper hugging a long-filler blend of Dominican Criollo 98, and Dominican Corojo tobaccos. This blend features a bounty of flavor without ever crossing the line to being overpowering. Flavor highlights include some spice, pepper, cream, and leather with an enjoyable finish. Construction is flawless and the entubado bunching of the filler lends to an effortless draw and a razor-sharp burn.
