Melanio Oliva cultivated his first tobacco crop in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba in 1886. His growing operations were suspended while he fought in the Cuban War of Independence. After returning from the war, Melanio resumed his tobacco-growing operations. In the early l920’s Melanio’s son, Facundo Oliva took over the growing operations. Facundo cultivated the Oliva family tobacco fields for several decades. As Cuba became overrun by the Communists, the tobacco landscape changed. Facundo’s son Gilberto Oliva shifted from growing to brokering tobacco. In the early ’60s the pressure became too great and Gilberto traveled from country to country in search of the conditions to recreate that distinctive Cuban taste.

Everyone knows the best time to smoke a cigar is on the weekend preferably after midnight. We named this blend Liga Midnight because the darkness of the leaves captures the mystery and flavor of the night. Rich, dark, chocolate and coffee notes tease your taste buds as you are brought deeper into the night-shade of this cigar leaving you both satisfied and wanting more at the same time.
When Day turns to night before 5pm then usually its a solar event called an Eclipse. In this cigar, we have affectionately named Eclipse so you get the best of both worlds. You get the day with the light airy cedar and caramel mixed with the dark chocolate and coffee notes of the dark Maduro’s we sell that you’ve come to love. Not sure which cigar to get between the MIDNIGHT and DAYBREAK? Then, pick up an Eclipse soon and see if you agree with our palate.
Do you like coffee with your cigars in the morning? We do!!! But often the cigars that we get to smoke with our coffee are lacking something….call it flavor, punch, power, or complexity we simply call it TASTE. But when we tried this cigar in the morning we were blown away!!! So if you want a great balanced cigar that highlights notes of caramel, cedar, and just the right amount of spice then this is the cigar for you. It is both the perfect cigar for the beginner and the veteran smoker who wants more from their cigar than just a pretty label.
This cigar is a medium-bodied, full of flavor Maduro that we’d liken to several boutique blends. If you are a fan of Maduro boutique cigars but don’t want to drop $10.00 per stick then this is a cigar that you must try! I have been told by more than one reputable cigar lover that I should put a label on these cigars, box em and sell them for 10-12 dollars.
This cigar tastes like a very well-aged boutique Habano. The amazing complexity and flavor stir my palate each time I smoke it. This has quickly become my favorite house blend of all time for Zeal Cigars. But don’t let the term “house blend” fool you. This is no ordinary “house” cigar. It is packed with a ton of flavor, perfect draw, and razor-sharp burn. Many folks begged me to label this and box it and put my name on it. I told them NO due to the fact it would take both longer to get out to the public and then cost double what it does now. This cigar is truly the ENVY of any King and we hope it becomes a staple cigar and must have stick for you.
